Job Description:

JOB TITLE: **Director of Mental Health Services BASIC JOB PURPOSE:** Leads the overall day to day operations of the Mental Health Services program. Provides supervision for program staff; consults with executive team on administrative and operational policies; develops and manages grants; prepares operations reports concerning the activities of program; develops and coordinates program policies and procedures; clear knowledge of evidence-based practices; responsible as point of contact with outside agencies and patients for the purpose of exchanging information; performs other duties as assigned. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: ** Work is performed in a clinical setting. Contact with patients and staff. Exposed to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Requires working under stress, in emergency situations or during irregular hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but occasionally may become disruptive while working with a client. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: ** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and must be able to communicate by talking or listening. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ** Monitors ongoing training, utilization review and peer review for clinical staff. Recommends clinical policies, develops and implements necessary procedures for clinical services as needed for accrediting or regulating entities. Responsible for provision of contracted services by staff in accordance with relevant regulations. Ensures timely service delivery for patients/families and successful linkage between services within the FHC and with outside agencies. Establishes and maintains positive communication and relationships with all internal programs and other agencies, program staff, contractors, referral sources, service providers, family members, and community representatives. Responsible for supervision of procedures regarding case assignment, scheduling and caseload management in support of clinical staff in response to contractual obligations for service delivery. Prepares program reports related to clinical outpatient services as requested. Coordinates continuous quality improvement efforts as defined by the accrediting or regulating entities. Participates in leadership team meetings to increase collaboration and communication and review policies and produces that affect staff. Participates in community collaborates as necessary. Recommends hiring and evaluation of all clinical staff; provides supervision/consultation to all clinical staff. Responsible for effective implementation of all clinical services. Performs clinical assessments and evaluations with patients/families referred for services. Conducts individual, family, and group therapy. Communicates with health care team members and agencies to obtain pertinent information to be utilized in evaluating patient needs. Prepares case histories for use in diagnosis and treatment. Develops intervention and treatment plans which include an evaluation of family support, patient strengths, and level of risks. Works in close collaboration with physicians and other health care personnel in patient evaluation and treatment to further their understanding of significant social and emotional factors underlying patient's health problem. Helps patient(s) through individual or group sessions to understand, accept, and follow medical recommendations. Follows through on treatment plan in patient's records. Maintains required case documentation and records delivered services in an accurate and timely manner as required by regulating entities, accreditation organizations, and management. Attends required in-service, departmental and organizational meetings. Participates in clinical review of cases. QUALIFICATIONS:** Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Education and/or Experience** Must be licensed in the State of Michigan. Education and/or Experience** Requires Master's degree of Social Work with full licensure and minimum of five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience with mental health and substance abuse. Must have experience in individual and group therapy sessions.
