Requirements:
Job Summary: Assists with dispensing medications and treatments of Residents as ordered by a Physician.Qualifications:Training and instruction per qualified staffExperience and understanding of geriatrics would be beneficialAdhere to the organization, federal/state regulations regarding nursing careAbility to communicate well with peopleMaintains neat, well-groomed appearance adhering to dress code.Adheres to HIPAA regulations/including not discussing residents' circumstances with other departmentsBe available to work weekends and holidays as neededEssential Functions:Dispensing medications and treatments properly, according to doctor's ordersOrders medications in a timely manner to ensure the resident is never out of a medicationDocument record keeping and other information regarding residents' medication, vital signs, nursing care, and services provided for the residents.Supervise and assist assigned Personal CaregiversReach overhead occasionally to obtain items from shelves/closetsIs aware of residents' needs and responds accordinglyResponds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies including resident and co-worker safetyObserves assesses, and reports change in residents' conditions to co-workers, physicians, and/or family.Maintains confidentiality regarding information/medical recordsIs flexible, receptive, and adaptive to changeMaintains clean work areas/cleans cartProperly uses telephone, fax machine, and other equipmentAttends scheduled meetings as required by the facilityProjects a positive image of the organization in dealing with residents, co-workers, families, and the publicPerforms other reasonable related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.Physical requirements:Frequently twists, stoops, bends, occasionally kneels, squats, and climb stairsCommunicates orally and in writing with residents, co-workers, families, and the publicRemains steady to take blood pressures, etc.Possesses coordination to administer injections, etc.Stands or walks up to 75% of 8-hour shiftLifts and carries light objects such as resident charts, treatment items, etc., without assistanceOccasionally transfers up to an average of 100 lbs with an assist while lifting, positioning, and transferring residentsPushes/pulls residents weighing 70-250 lbs in a wheelchairAble to wear gloves and other protective equipmentPossesses skills for continuous handling, fingering, and feeling for palpitation, operating equipment, dispensing medications, and providing medical treatment involving wound care, etc.Reads small print on equipment and written materialsIdentifies staff, residents, family, etc.Able to hear normal sounds including conversations, alarms, etc. Distinguishes sound from stethoscopes, etc.Possesses the ability to concentrate, understand and remember instructions, messages, details, and task assignmentsAble to push approximately up to 100-pound cart on casters 392 feet (length of the hallway) on the carpeted floorEnvironmental Conditions:100% of the workday spent indoorsOccasional exposure to blood/bodily fluidsFrequent exposure to bacteria, viruses, and other infectious agents in dealing with residents, co-workers, family, and publicFrequent exposure to chemical compounds to medication and treatmentOccasional exposure to hazardous chemicals such as soaps, disinfectants, etc. as identified by the facility's MSDS manual.Frequent exposure to latex, vinyl, plastic, or materials used in personal protective equipmentOccasional exposure to bodily injuries due to unpredictable behavior or residentsMandation when necessary (refer to Employee Playbook for policy information)PI153509277
