ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital has been providing high-quality health care services to the Branch County community since 1939. Located in Coldwater, Michigan, ProMedica Coldwater has 71 acute medical beds and 16 adult psychiatric beds to care for patients and their families.POSITION SUMMARY:Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse. Initiates and completes procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs, nutrition and fluid needs; and elimination needs. Measures vital signs and reports information to the Registered nurse. Performs blood glucose testing.ACCOUNTABILITIES:Orients patients to the bedside console and nurse call systemMeasures vital signs, height and weight and reports same to the nurse; obtains and reports other measurements to the nurseProvides hygienic care including bed bath/shower daily and hair care. Changes bed linens as needed. Provides oral care at least once per shiftPrepares patients for meals, prepares tray for patient, assists or feeds patients as needed. Records intake as necessary. Distributes water and other nourishments to patients.Assists with care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning using proper body mechanics and lift equipment as necessary. Ambulates patients as directed by nurse.Offers bedpan/urinal to non-ambulatory patients and records output as necessary. Administers enemas and performs perineal care as directed.Makes hourly rounds on patients, responds to patient calls asap. Reports any unusual or patient problems immediately to the nurse.Job RequirementsCurrent high school student enrolled in the Health Technologies program at BACCRead, write and speak and comprehend English. Operate nursing equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, porta-weight scales, etc). Near visual acuity is required. Basic data entry skillsCENA required; BLS required within 6 months of hire dateDemonstrates knowledge and use of standard precautions and PPE. Demonstrates knowledge and use of safe patient handling equipment.Work is medium to heavy demand and requires prolonged periods of standing and walking on duty. Lifting and pushing are required when working with patients and moving carts, wheelchairs, stretchers and other types of equipment.
