Zoetis Global Therapeutics Research group is seeking an innovative
and highly motivated Post -Doctoral immunologist (with a focus on
parasite/helminth immunology) to contribute towards discovery and
development of novel therapies. The team works across various
therapeutic areas and is geared to understanding the immunological
basis of inflammation, infectious/non-infectious disease, and
host-pathogen interactions in order to identify, evaluate and
progress therapeutic targets and substrates for companion animals
and livestock.Responsibilities:
- Analysis of host-parasite interaction using in vitro
systems.
- Studies of cells from infected and/or vaccinated animals ex
vivo.
- Characterize immunological responses in in vitro, ex vivo, and
in vivo model systems using multiple technical approaches.
- Perform routine and complex, specialized, laboratory procedures
including cell culture and immunoassays.
- Work closely with the Parasitology, Mechanistic Biology, and
Genetics/Bioinformatics groups to provide expert advice/service in
parasite immunology related experimental design and to implement
quality controls to assure high scientific standards.Basic
Qualifications:Suitable candidate will have a Ph.D. (or expected to
receive a Ph.D. in the next few months) in immunology, preferably
in parasite/helminth immunology. The applicant is expected to have
experience and knowledge of the host innate and adaptive immunity,
especially as it relates to parasite/helminth diseases. Experience
in systems biology, vaccinology, and mode of actions of vaccines
and immunomodulatory and/or immunostimulatory molecules or
proteins, with an interest in the translational aspects of these
research disciplines will be an advantage. Have enthusiasm to learn
new immunoassays/techniques and investigate variety of different
disease areas. Have ability to work independently in research
projects within area of specialization. Candidate must also be a
creative/independent thinker and with a track record of research in
innate immunology and peer reviewed publications. Applicants should
have excellent writing skills and able to work both independently
and collaboratively.Desired Skill sets:
- In-depth knowledge of immunology and related techniques
(cellular & molecular), with emphasis on parasite/helminth
diseases.
- Experience/knowledge in identification of innate and adaptive
immune mechanisms of infectious diseases, with a special emphasis
on parasite/helminth diseases.
- Strong practical expertise in a range of immunological
techniques (in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro) including cell culture
(primary & immortalized, immune & non-immune), ELISAs,
immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry.
- Expertise/knowledge in co-culture techniques to study
immunological mechanisms of parasite/helminth infections with
translation to in vivo models would be a plus.
- Broad knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology, and
immunology of inflammation and infectious diseases would be an
advantage.
- Familiarity with techniques in RNA/protein isolation and
qPCR/RNA-Sequencing from tissue/cell-based assay systems.
- Any experience or knowledge in utility/application of
flow-based assays for either identification of therapeutic targets
or identification and application for biomarkers in efficacy/safety
studies would be an advantage.
- Ability to plan and perform experiments independently, observe
and record experiments/research and report accurately.
- Writing skills for protocols, reports, journal manuscripts and
