qualified Med/Surg RN in Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49007! Pay
Information $2,074 per week About The Position Job Title:
Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 -
07:30) Experience: 1-2 years of Medical Surgical experience
preferred License: Valid Michigan RN license required
Certifications: BLS (AHA) required, NIHSS required or willing to
complete before start Must-Have: - Willingness to work every other
weekend - Willingness to float to other Medical Surgical Units, ICU
Units, and ED waiting rooms Description: This is a 40-bed Medical
Surgical unit specializing in the care of patients with
neurological disorders. The patient population includes those with
stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other inflammatory
disorders of the brain and spinal cord. The unit has a significant
spinal surgery population, including post-operative neuro-surgery,
orthopedic surgery, laminectomies, and spinal fusions. It also
includes six step-down/telemetry beds and six bariatric beds to
care for a diverse patient population. There is a four-bed Neuro
Monitoring Unit that admits patients starting at age five to
investigate seizure causes. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically
1:4 or 1:5. Equipment utilized includes EPIC and Pyxis. The
interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory
services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, rapid response
teams, and pharmacy. This position requires compliance with flu
vaccination policies, with medical exemptions considered.
