Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required License: Valid state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: 1 year of telemetry experience First-time travelers accepted Description: Registered Nurse needed for a cardiovascular telemetry unit. This unit primarily cares for patients on cardiac monitors. Patients include those with heart failure, heart attacks, strokes, and arrhythmias. Staff will monitor patients in a telemetry room as well as on the unit. PCA support will be available on the unit. The patient-to-nurse ratio may increase to 1:7 as needed. No call requirements are expected, but weekend shifts will be required every other weekend. Holiday shifts must be covered for 2 out of 3 holidays. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed, but managers will make efforts to accommodate requests. The typical patient population includes adults and geriatrics with a daily census of around 40 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Special procedures on this unit involve management of cardiac drips and telemetry monitoring. Successful candidates will demonstrate competencies in cardiac telemetry, central line management, and hemodynamic monitoring. The charting system used in this position is Cerner. Candidates must be willing to float to similar units as needed.
