Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: Fort Wayne, IN Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,236 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/23/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46845! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Central Registry - Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7pm-7am Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years in Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience; at least 1 year of experience in a large hospital with more than 600 beds License: Indiana RN license or compact RN license (as of July 1, 2020) Certifications: BLS through AHA Must-Have: - Minimum of 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience - Indiana RN license or compact RN license (as of July 1, 2020) - BLS certification Description: The position involves providing general medical and surgical nursing care. The unit serves a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, diabetes, congestive heart failure, and end-stage renal disease. Management of GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases is part of the role. Care for infections like pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, urinary tract infections, and C. difficile is also required. Neurological issues such as stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries will be managed as well. Patients with mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse, may be part of the caseload. The RN may assist with procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. Duties include assessments, care planning, interprofessional communication, and utilizing electronic health records. The RN will manage equipment including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps, and chest tubes. Experience with medications such as heparin and insulin drips, as well as IV therapy management, is essential. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. The RN must be willing to float to other medical units as needed.
