Work with interdisciplinary support and clinical tools including Epic documentation and Sigma IV pumps./n /n /n Located in Kalamazoo, MI, you’ll be in the heart of a vibrant downtown area known for walkable streets, local restaurants and coffee shops, arts and music venues, and easy access to parks and trails—an ideal destination for nurses seeking Michigan travel nursing jobs./n /n/nRN Contract Job Details/n /n - Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – General Medical Stepdown, Nights/n - Location: Kalamazoo, MI/n - Start Date: March 9, 2026/n - End Date: June 8, 2026/n - Contract Duration: 13 weeks (travel/contract nursing)/n - Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour nights (19:00–07:30)/n - Hours: 36 hours/week/n - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend/n - Call: None/n - Floating: May float to other med-surg areas (including AU and ER) to care for med-surg patients/n - Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4–6 (support staff available if ratios flex higher; chemo admits may reduce assignment)/n - EMR/Charting: Epic/n - Equipment: Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps/n /n/nRegistered Nurse (RN) Requirements/n /n - Experience: Minimum 1 year recent RN experience required; stepdown experience strongly preferred/n - License: Active Michigan RN license./n - Certifications:/n /n - BLS (AHA)/n - NIH/NIHSS/n - ONS or ONCC required (one or the other). ONCC/OCN must be in hand; pending ONS may be considered./n /n /n - Clinical Skills: Peripheral IV starts/maintenance; infusion therapy; administering and monitoring IV chemotherapy/n - Availability: Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment/n /n/nKey Responsibilities (General Medical Stepdown RN – Nights)/n /n - Provide high-quality patient care for adult and geriatric stepdown patients with general medical and oncology-related needs/n - Safely administer and monitor IV chemotherapy per policy and standards of practice/n - Initiate, maintain, and troubleshoot peripheral IV access and infusion therapy using Sigma IV pumps/n - Perform focused assessments, monitoring, and timely escalation for clinical changes/n - Document accurately and efficiently in Epic, including assessments, interventions, and patient responses/n - Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (PT/RT, pharmacy, radiology, phlebotomy, social services, rapid response teams, and more) to support patient-centered care/n - Support unit flow and safety practices, including admissions, transfers, and discharge readiness/n - Float as needed to med-surg areas to provide appropriate care within RN scope and competency/n /n/n Apply now for this Registered Nurse (RN) General Medical Stepdown night shift contract in Kalamazoo, MI.
