Chief of Geriatrics Physician Leader in Michigan
Merritt Hawkins has partnered with the newly-opened Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed), one of the few U.S. medical schools in several decades to be built from the ground up. We are seeking a geriatrician to serve as their inaugural Division Chief of Geriatrics.--
The division chief must have a strong vision for growth to build and lead the Division in its educational, clinical, and research missions within a dynamic community-engaged, interdisciplinary setting. Division faculty will provide clinical services at a regional PACE program with two Day Centers and a growing membership base. There is the opportunity to develop a Geriatric Assessment Center working with two award-winning teaching hospitals in the community. Additional geriatric clinical opportunities in Kalamazoo include skilled nursing facilities, long-term care, assisted living and independent living settings, and consultative inpatient services. There is the opportunity to lead groundbreaking geriatric educational activities in collaboration with accredited primary care residency programs in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Medicine-Pediatrics. WMed implements an innovative UME curriculum that includes longitudinal geriatric care experience at a PACE program for all medical students through the M1 and M2 years. The Center for Clinical Research has immediate opportunities for geriatric collaboration and resources for developing clinical research programs in geriatrics.--

We will consider applicants with applicable residency training but the successful candidate must be board certified in Geriatrics.
