Job Description:

Hastings Fiber Glass Products, one of the area's leading manufacturers, is seeking an experienced safety professional to join the team! In this role you will lead health and safety programs for the company. Some of the specific tasks you'll manage are:
1.--------Identify training needs/deficiencies, identifying priorities for training of departments and programs. Design and deliver the appropriate programs through in-person and/or on-line training systems to educate and train managers, faculty and employees in occupational safety and health as well as environmental programs.--2.--------Conduct routine internal audits of the Company safety and health management program for adequacy, compliance and effectiveness. Develop, recommend, and implement improvements to programs.3.--------Contribute to the ongoing continuous improvement of health and safety-related written compliance programs and training delivery methods.4.--------Provide safety training to new employees. Meet with managers and supervisors, as needed, to augment and support their efforts in moving to a best practice organization in terms of safety and environmental compliance.5.--------Review and analyze injury frequency records, past compliance activities, compliance history, codes and standards as well as technical literature to determine optimal training frequency and delivery methods.6.--------Conduct occupational health consultations and analysis of Company workplaces to provide assistance in the identification, control and elimination of occupation safety and health hazards.7.--------In coordination with management, designs systems to recognize and eliminate occupational safety and health hazards.8.--------Works with the purchasing department to establish and maintain relationships with vendors that are qualified to assist with industrial hygiene and hazardous building materials matters.9.--Conduct health surveys utilizing appropriate sampling strategies, analyzes data and provides follow up reports for stakeholders.10.--Maintain Company SDS sheets, trainings, and recordkeeping.11.--Work with engineering and maintenance to maintain information system of hazardous building material sampling reports and abatement activities.12.--Calibrate and maintain industrial hygiene equipment, as needed.13.--Apply occupational health rules and consensus standards (i.e., ANSI) to enhance understanding of compliance with appropriate standards and controls.14.--Perform administrative duties associated with the specific duties of the position.15.--Remain current on new technology, methodology and equipment.16.--Maintain appropriate level of confidentiality and high standards of professionalism.17.--Coordinate and lead Company's emergency response activities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in an occupational health or safety-related field
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment in health and safety position
  • Strongly preferred certifications: GSP or CSP, ASHM
  • Thorough understanding of applicable laws and standards, including but not limited to OSHA, MiOSHA, and DEQ regulations
  • Current OSHA 30-hour card, obtained or renewed within last 3-5 years
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assigned tasks
  • Proven ability to use deductive and inductive reasoning (able to identify problems and propose practical solutions)--
