Job Description:

ProFarm Group, Inc (PFG) is a global provider serving the ever-expanding agricultural markets. With multiple locations worldwide, the company focuses on discovering, developing, and marketing effective and safe pest management and plant health products. PFG is currently looking for a Supervisor, Quality Control to join our Quality Team in Bangor, Michigan. This position performs material and product testing, maintains all records generated or utilized by their department, and is responsible for microbiological analytical support of production. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Essential Functions: Supervise and schedule the laboratory staff at the Bangor, Michigan location
Coordinate laboratory function and output with management in alignment with the production at the Bangor, Michigan location
Monitor the performance of material and develop and analyze statistical data, production inputs, and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product
Prepare and review written procedures including SOPs and test methods
Ensure final reports produced by team accurately reflect the data, results, and conclusions of the testing or investigation
Lead investigations for nonconforming materials and events
Monitor and enforce GMP guidelines, safety requirements, and environmental conditions that impact product quality and facility requirements
Manage sample databases, the reporting of results, metric development, and internal/external department communications
Perform raw material, finished product sampling and testing assuring adequate, appropriate, and complete documentation
Perform microbiological testing and fermentation to support production
Prepare a variety of medium types and laboratory reagents
Perform a variety of physical chemistry and wet lab analyses
Manage the retention of product retains
Calibrate/maintain test stations and equipment
Monitor supply levels, ordering laboratory chemicals and materials when necessary
Effectively present information and respond to questions when necessary
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures, reporting all unsafe activities to appropriate supervisor
Perform general department maintenance
Participate in efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skill Other Duties: Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS: Education: Completion of a bachelor's degree in a biological discipline
Valid Driver's License Experience: 3+ years' experience working in a regulated laboratory setting is required
5+ years of industry applicable production support/microbiological experience is required
3+ years of supervisory experience required ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical Requirements: Ability to work weekends and swing/night shifts may be required
Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods
Ability to extensively use a computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor
Ability to lift at least 30 +/- lbs.
Ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and turn.
Ability to utilize commercial means of travel (e.g., car, air, train) for periods of time as required to locations
Ability to use manual dexterity sufficient to handle items and perceive attributes of objects, and be able to perform light physical, non-strenuous daily activities of a production/technical nature.
Ability to function in working conditions that are adequately lighted, moderately heated, or air-conditioned, and in an indoor office, laboratory, and production setting
Ability to deal with frequent exposure to air contamination such as disagreeable odors and exposure to toxic of caustic substances Mental Requirements: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific journals and technical procedures
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and peers
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, length, and volume
Ability to calculate and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and statistical functions to practical situations
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism such as graphs, formulas, and scientific equations
Ability to utilize computer skills such as electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics
Ability to work with frequent interruptions, changes in workload priorities, and maintain confidentiality
Ability to handle and plan multiple projects and tasks simultaneously under stringent deadlines
Ability to competently exercise independent judgement in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Ability to learn new software/new information, when necessary, in order to complete job duties thoroughly. Travel: Ability to travel by car, train, or air either domestically or internationally 1% - 10% of the time; travel up to 4 weeks out of the year and up to 2 weeks in duration for one trip.
