Project Engineer Sturgis Molded Products in Sturgis, MI is looking for a self-motivated Project Engineer to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment that focuses on injection molding, plastic part design, plastic material selection, injection mold tool design, and injection mold processing. • Vacation Time About the Position:
  • CAD work for gage/fixture design, part development, tool design, and EC s
  • Tooling support to Program Managers for new product development
  • Problem-solving of existing programs
  • Creating detailed design feasibility PowerPoints to assist customers in part development and design for manufacturing
  • Performing quotes for gage/fixture cost and timing
  • The ability to read 2D prints and develop fixtures/gages
  • Providing assistance to the Toolroom when necessary for consultation or tool repairs/design etc.
  • Performing MoldFlow analysis for gate location, fill patterns and areas of concern Responsibilities:
    • Plastic part development, injection mold tooling design, gage, and fixture design
    • Ability to work with internal and external customers on all design-related topics
    • Involved in direct communication with the SMP engineering team, tooling suppliers, and customers for tool builds and part development
    • Evaluating and communicating feasibility for manufacturing, specifying requirements for part design, tool design reviews, and giving direction to customers and tooling suppliers
    • Development of 2D prints, windage models, tool refurbishments, steel tunes, and modifying existing tools for engineering changes
    • Ability to be fluent in CAD software and being able to perform CAD modifications in a timely manner Requirements:
      • Bachelor's Degree Required
      • Minimum 3 Years of Maintenance Experience in Manufacturing
      • Minimum 1 Year of Injection Molding Experience Preferred
      • Ability to Use CAD Software for 3D and 2D Development
      • Cimatron and/or SolidWorks Experience Preferred But Not Required
      • Ability to Read and Understand 2D Prints and GD&T
      • Excellent Attention to Detail
      • Adaptable to a Changing Work Environment and Demands
      • Able to Work Well in a Team Environment
      • Good Communication Skills to Both Internal and External Customers
      • Ability to Use Microsoft Office Suite of Products and Proficiency with Computers
