Title: R&D Technologist IDepartment: Research & DevelopmentReports to: Flavor Development Manager Position Summary The R&D Technologist I position supports the flavor creations team by screening flavors, providing compounding support, and providing apps support as needed. The R&D Technologist I is responsible for conforming to required regulations around safety, quality, and good laboratory practices. Essential Job Functions Screen flavors on a daily basis.Provides applications and customer project support.Screens product portfolio items.Compounds flavor formulas to support Flavor Scientists and Application Scientists.Creates product samples.Demonstrates best practices in documentation, utilizing company proprietary software, lot numbers, etc.Provides scale-up support.Operates various lab instruments and equipment as needed.Delivers high quality work in a timely manner on special projects as assigned.Follows safety, quality, and GMP policies.Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team members.Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related fieldWork Experience: 0-2 years of experience in laboratory testing operations, prior compounding experienceIndustry Knowledge: Experience and/or knowledge of food and flavor industry Winning Behaviors, Competencies, and Skills Accuracy – Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.Accountability – Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.Adaptability – Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.Autonomy – Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionCommunication, Oral – Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.Communication, Written – Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.Detail Oriented – Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.Organized – Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.Problem Solving – Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.Reliability – The trait of being dependable and trustworthy. Hard skills: Strong flavor matching skills and the ability to convert between varying units of measure is required.Must be able to accurately weigh small quantities of ingredients.Must have acute sense of taste and smell.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. on a regular basis.Must not have food allergies that would interfere with the ability to consume a wide variety of customer products. This may include dairy, wheat, or any other common foods.
