Job DescriptionSummary: The production supervisor is responsible for managing the production team to meet daily production schedules with support from the production superintendent. A successful production supervisor will be able to communicate across multiple departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Continuously strive to drive, improve, and monitor QAP companywide KPI's: safety (6s), people, quality, cost of production, delivery/Inventory, continuous improvement, finance/cash, and commercial.
  • Distribute and collect daily shipping goals/orders to team. Monitor team for accuracy.
  • Manage staffing by understanding team's skill level to assign tasks and satisfy shipping schedules.
  • Provide solutions to complex customer concerns by taking a systematic approach to problem solving and applying a bit of detective work to solve any issues .
  • Direct and oversee completion of loads. Manage procedures including but not limited to product labels, color codes, skid construction and truck logistics.
  • Train, direct, motivate and coach employees to meet department goals and minimize error rate.
  • Evaluate hourly employee performance. Provide continuous coaching to engage and motivate team.
  • Assign appropriate corrective actions when needed to maintain QAP mission and values.
  • Remove obstacles by analyzing problem, making recommendations and reinforcing standards.
  • Safeguard quality and order accuracy throughout the department and promptly address defects/issues. Utilize 5 alarm process when needed.
  • Utilize Syspro software to manage, monitor and track inventory.
  • Communicate and coordinate completion of backorders between all departments.
  • Administer and lead 8D problem solving process.
  • Administer and lead standardized work list
  • Maintain high level of knowledge related to material codes and production schedules (metal codes/colors/labeling/etc.).
  • Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance at QAP facility.
  • Reinforce and maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness by utilizing 5s standards.
  • Any additional job assigned by management.

    Education and/or Experience Trade School or High school diploma; and/or 3 year to 5 years of management experience.Language/Reasoning Ability/Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply using whole numbers. Ability to read, write and speak basic English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to fill out reports and follow shipping schedules. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations May be asked to have a Forklift License to facilitate production. OSHA training strongly preferred. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for most of the 8 to 10 hour shift. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving forklifts and pallets. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot or cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. We also require steel-toed shoes and protective eyewear at all times in the plant.
